Bath Beach
Runs from Gravesend Bay on the south, Bay Parkway and Avenue P to the east, 65th Street to the north and 14th Avenue to the west.
Established in the 1880s when the Benson farm was parceled out into 20 x 100 foot lots and sold to newly arrived immigrants, Bath Beach - Bensonhurst is a nabe reminiscent of days gone by.
Hundred year old one- and two-family semi-attached brick, stucco and stone properties are prevalent. The homes have gardens and backyards enclosed by wrought iron fences.
Walking through the many outdoor fruit and vegetable markets running along 86th Street beneath the elevated B subway line instantly bring you back in time. And if it's a traditional meal you desire in this picturesque setting, Bensonhurst, the Little Italy of Brooklyn, is the place to go. The cozy, family-owned establishment - many of which have remained in the same family for several generations, serve up dishes that satisfy any sized craving. And the area's annual Santa Rosalia Festival rivals the San Genaro Festival in Manhattan's Little Italy.
