Bay Ridge
Runs from 65th Street on the north, Seventh Avenue on the east and the Belt Parkway and Brooklyn shore on the west and south.
Bay Ridge offers unspoiled early 20th century single-family brick, limestone and stucco homes as well as brick multi-family detached and semi-detached homes, many of which have garages and basements. Art Deco apartment buildings and newer condos also exist. Properties with views of the Bridge are sought after. And those along Shore Road are reminiscent of tree-lined Riverside Drive in Manhattan.
Take a stroll down the waterfront esplanade or peruse the boutiques along Forth and Fifth Avenues (Century 21 isn't far on 86th Street). Or for a little more adventurous form of activity, try out the new skateboarding area within Owl's Head Park. And when all that movement builds up your hunger, head over to Third Avenue or 'Restaurant Row' as locals call it. Norwegian bakeries (original settlers of the area were from Norway), health food cafes and trendy restaurants will satisfy your cravings. Or if its liquid refreshment you desire, Irish pubs abound along Forth and Fifth Avenues.
