East Harlem is a diverse neighborhood with a rich history and distinct residential charm. It is home to some exciting new plans: East River Plaza, an upcoming mall on 116th Street off the FDR Drive, will have a Target, a Home Depot, and 1,200 parking spaces. On a smaller scale, plans are underway to revive La Marqueta, a historical greenmarket that goes back to a collection of pushcarts in the nineteen-twenties; watch for a six-building complex of fresh meats, fish and produce.
