A work of art and a piece of historyCasa Coral was built in the classic Mediterranean style in 1928 by architect John Volk. Its simple yet elegant proportions are true characteristics of Volk's work including original terracotta tiles inlaid with smaller decorative tiles, an ornate Mizner stone mantel in the living room, hand stenciled original pecky-cypress ceilings throughout the first floor and the Plateresque frontispiece that surrounds the doorway and extends to the second floor balcony. With a large lot and gardens designed by Sanchez & Maddox, located ona desirable in-town street, it is just a short distance to a beautiful beach, a lovely path along the Intracoastal and all the fabulous shops and restaurants Palm Beach has to offer. The home was designated a landmark in 1996.

According to early settler accounts, Palm Beach received its name from the shipwreck of the "Providencia."
The ship washed ashore in January of 1878 with a cargo of cocoanuts bound from Havana to Barcelona. Early settlers lost no time salvaging and planting the cocoanuts, which were not native to South Florida, hoping to launch the area into the commercial cocoanut industry. But this lush barrier island, 16 miles long and located 65 miles north of Miami, was destined for much bigger things. Its close proximity to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream produced a hothouse environment where the crème de la crème would flourish.
