The Manhattan-based multibillionaire husband of actress Ellen Barkin has just closed on the contract to sell the couple's sublime 6-acre landmarked estate on South Ocean Boulevard to Virginia developer Dwight Schar, a part owner of the Washington Redskins football team.

While there have been higher asking prices in the country, including a $75 million property in the Hamptons, the sale officially eclipses the current Florida sales record of $30.5 million by more than double and skyrockets past the national benchmark price of just over $50 million for a Lake Tahoe, Nev., property. Perelman spokeswoman Christine Taylor would only confirm the sale took place.

"That's just amazing," said Geoffrey Thomas, a Palm Beach broker with Douglas Elliman. "But it proves that buying property in Palm Beach County continues to be a brilliant investment, even after two devastating hurricanes."

The melon-hued mansion — called Casa Apava — and other buildings on the property comprise approximately 33,000 square feet and include a movie theater, an oversized outdoor pool, pool house, multiple guest houses, a cutting-edge gym and spa, boat dock, and walk-in humidor for his priceless cigar collection. The area, known as Billionaire's Row, is also home to Netscape founder Jim Clark, Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcomb Glazier, clothing magnate Sidney Kimmel and Sotheby's owner Alfred Taubman.

"It's a major wow property with Old World elegance and a lot of presence," said Paulette Koch of the Corcoran Group's Palm Beach office.

Perelman bought the digs in 1994 reportedly for $15 million, then a record price paid for a Florida home.
