After earning her BS degree from Ithaca College and her Masters in Special Education from CW Post, Joan taught in Rhinebeck, NY for several years. She subsequently joined the school system in Elwood, NY and lived in Huntington where she raised her children. In 1990, Joan took an early retirement from teaching, set her sights on real estate, and rooted herself permanently in Sag Harbor where she has since become a fixture in the community. Not only does she know the market exceptionally well; she is very well connected as the founder and president of the Sag Harbor Historical Society, and as former board member of SPLIA.

A genuine people person, Joan makes the rental or sale process as enjoyable, educational and rewarding as possible for her customers and clients. Her greatest thrill in her work to this day is matching someone with the best home for their needs. "I'm a conservator, a design enthusiast, an antique and fine arts lover," says Joan, who adores the art of decor and the diversity of architectural styles of the homes in the Hamptons. Her interest also inspired her to pursue her certificate in Fine Art and Antique Appraisal.
