Highland Beach
The name 'Highland Beach' was a simple choice: At the time the town was discovered, the land rose 20 to 25 feet above high tide, relatively higher than other portions of the dune crest in the area.
The Town of Highland Beach is located in the southern portion of eastern Palm Beach County. The Town encompasses 0.6 square miles and is bounded in the north and northwest by the City of Delray Beach and on the south and southwest by the City of Boca Raton. The Atlantic Ocean lies adjacent to the Town on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway lies to the west. The Town's 'main street' is a beautiful tree-lined stretch of Florida's state road A1A.
This quietly upscale community has many outdoor recreational opportunities, such as the Atlantic Dunes Park, and miles and miles of beach access, dozens of golf courses and nature trails. The sophisticated 'artsy' town of Delray Beach, which lies directly on the ocean, is just minutes away and offers a plethora of art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, jazz clubs and hotels. Its other neighboring town, Boca Raton, has a system of beachfront parks that are unparalleled in the state of Florida, and offers even more dining and shopping opportunities.
