Lake Clarke
Founded as a lakeside community in the late 1940s, resident's tracts of land are still referred to on the tax rolls and in the record books as 'Florida Mango Grovelets.' An odd name for an area with a somewhat odd history: These tracts were once, long ago, a grove, then a marsh, then the 'boondocks,' and finally a real town in 1957. Lake Clark Shores is situated between West Palm Beach to the east, and Wellington to the west.
Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Lake Clark Shores' major undertakings are beautification and parks: the Town Hall Park, Memorial Park and Pine Tree Park (a fourth park is under construction). A new playground and recreation complex for all age groups is underway, and its butterfly garden is being refurbished.
A close-knit community of approximately 3,500 residents, Lake Clark Shores has a reputation as a unique and friendly place with a small town feel that loves its community events, which include an annual town BBQ, the 'Loop Around the Lake' marathon, antique car contest, the Renegade Boat Parade, and Holiday in Paradise parade. There are plenty of dining opportunities within a short drive, and residents can avail themselves of world-class polo just moments away in Wellington, or the broad range of cultural opportunities in West Palm Beach.
