Midwood
Runs from Foster Avenue and Avenue I to the north, Kings Highway to the south, Flatbush Avenue to the east and McDonald Avenue to the west

Midwood is a quiet, green neighborhood in Brooklyn that offers almost country-like living in the city. Midwood offers a variety of residential options, including homes to buy, apartments for rent and apartments to buy. Homes for sale in Midwood include Victorians, Queen Annes, Colonial Revivals, wood frames, Missions, stuccos, and shingled two-story homes. Many of these larger homes for sale have amenities including deep and broad front porches, lawns with large oaks and maples, peaked roofs, finished basements, driveways and lush gardens.

Midwood’s tree-lined streets also sport two-family homes and multifamily walk-ups in the cavalcade of homes for sale. But Midwood has many rental options as well, including apartments to rent in the aforementioned homes and brick rental buildings with units of all sizes, from studios to three-bedrooms.

Midwood’s commercial district is full of kosher restaurants, delis, pizzerias, butchers and other specialty stores, including a Russian bakery that makes mouth-watering butter cookies and fresh bread daily. Nearby Brooklyn College has a community membership program which allows neighbors to use its library, athletic and fine arts facilities.

The film industry has also made Midwood its home for decades. Vitigraph Studios opened in the 1920s and was purchased by NBC in 1953. (Stars from Fatty Arbuckle to Perry Como lensed there.) Today, Midwood natives like Woody Allen and Noah Baumbach have filmed some of their movies on the neighborhood streets. Plus, the soap opera “As the World Turns” recently moved its studios from Midtown to Midwood.
