An "absolutely ethereal" experience, Jean-Georges Vongerichtens New French flagship in Columbus Circle offers always "inventive" food in a "chicly understated", Adam Tihany–designed setting; repasts in the prix fixe–only dining room are "heavenly", prices included, but the "royal-treatment" service alone will make you "feel important just being there", so "break the piggy bank and go for it" – or try the $24 lunch on the terrace or in the "more casual" Nougatine Room.

"Jadore" coo enthusiasts as Terry Brennans West Side "class act" "continues to soar" with an "exquisite" French-Med menu (featuring an "unsurpassed cheese-cart" encore), "standout" service and an atmosphere of bourgeoise "elegance" that validates the "big bucks" spent; a $38 Saturday prix fixe lunch eases the pinch, and the private rooms remain "a special treat"; N.B. a post-Survey redo, which added a front wine-and-cheese bar, may outdate the above Decor score.

"Très romantique", festooned with a "riot of flowers" and Howard Chandler Christys "magical" murals of gamboling nymphs, this "sumptuous" Lincoln Center–area "grande dame" via George and Jenifer Lang is one of NYCs "most beautiful" dining rooms; equally "lovely" is the French cuisine presented by a "thoughtful staff" – no wonder this 90-year-old remains a consistent "crowd-pleaser" – as well as a favorite place for proposing.

Its "no small achievement" to turn out "worthy" kosher fare, but this "attractive" Upper West Side French-Moroccan manages to keep the observant "satisfied" for a "reasonable price"; "somewhat inattentive" service aside, theres darn "little to kvetch about" here.

Youre sure to "meet your fellow diners" at this "phone booth"–size, yet still "civilized", Lincoln Center "standby" dispensing "first-rate French food" via a "polite" staff; though the quarters are "slightly down-at-the-heel", its $34 pre-theater prix fixe is simply "charmante."
