“Serene was a word you could put to Brooklyn, New York.” – Betty Smith, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”
Paul Hawkins traces his family in Brooklyn back to the early 19th century. One branch took root in Williamsburg in the early 1830s, another branch began at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, when a U.S. Marine from Missouri received his discharge papers following the Civil War. From there, the family spread throughout the borough, making homes in Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens and Belle Harbor, Cobble Hill, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Windsor Terrace. If a tree grows in Brooklyn, chances are someone from Paul's family climbed it.
Paul began his professional life in fine dining, with management roles at such celebrated New York institutions as the Racquet & Tennis Club, Gramercy Tavern, and Felidia. Following the Internet boom, Paul ventured into web development, eventually leading the technology team of a national consulting group.
In his current role, representing buyers and sellers in real estate transactions, Paul ticks every box on his C.V., offering the attention to detail of a software engineer, the care and hospitality of a maître d’, and his love of all things New York—with a sweet spot for Brooklyn.
Raising a family in Brooklyn, Paul is well versed in the minutiae of Brooklyn life—soccer leagues and Girl Scout Cookies, dance classes and guitar lessons, dog run politics, weekends on Long Island and where to trick-or-treat on Halloween.
Paul looks forward to guiding you through your next real estate deal, but more than that, he looks forward to welcoming you to Brooklyn.
