Prior to his real estate career, Daren spent twelve years in the commodities trade. He has also traveled to 25 different countries, particularly specializing in East Asia and Latin American business cultures. He is fluent in Spanish, an avid tennis player, and an accomplished classical pianist, having trained for over 15 years.
