Prior to joining Corcoran, Marti Wheat worked in marketing and business development, administration, and Human Resources in large, global law firms, financial and investment institutions and Ivy League institutions. Her experience working with attorneys and managing a staff of 90 legal secretaries in the world's largest law firm was an excellent training ground for knowing how to navigate the often turbulent waters of New York real estate and her highly developed problem-solving skills, make her a natural. Whether she is successfully relocating customers who have only three days to find an apartment, sign the paperwork and move in or she is carefully steering clients through the daunting process of selling or purchasing an apartment, Marti handles each challenge with good humor, solid skills and instincts, and a record of success.
Though Texas born, Marti has lived most of her life in New York City, where she learned early-on how to take advantage of all the wonderful things New York has to offer. Over the years, she developed a strong affinity for almost every neighborhood in Manhattan and has lived in many different parts of the City. As a result, there are very few people who have as much intimate knowledge of as many neighborhoods as she has; knowledge that can work miracles for both buyers and sellers.
Marti has her BA in Writing/Literature from Columbia University and is one of the 200 University-appointed World Leaders of the Columbia Alumni Association. She has her New York State Real Estate License and is a member of REBNY and the New York State Real Estate Association.
When she isn't working, Marti splits her time between writing, photography, and scuba diving. She is a dedicated diver, who shares her passion for diving volunteering with organizations dedicated to teaching diving to children and adults with disabilities and the military wounded.
