Upper East Side
Upper East, from 57th Street to 110th Street, from the East River to Fifth Avenue, with Sutton Place and Carnegie Hill as separate enclaves.
The Upper East Side historically exemplifies serious landmark-type apartments but remains a neighborhood where there’s a co-op or condo for everyone. Strict co-ops (some with o’-say-can-you-see Central Park views) continue to prevail in the Upper East Side from Park to Fifth Avenues, but there are plenty of studios, one- and two-bedroom condos, and rentals on the Upper East Side as well. Luxury new condo buildings include the Laurel, with a world-class gym that would satisfy any triathlete, the Lucida, and the Brompton.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Barbizon 63 is an established condominium building with 65 apartments. Located on the Upper East Side, it gained recognition during the 1950s as the residence of such celebrities as Grace Kelly and Liza Minelli. Originally built in the 1920s as a hotel for women, the 23-story building was restructured in 2002 by Melrose Hotel Company for about $40 million and in 2005 was converted to condominiums. The architecture firm responsible for the project, Cetra/Ruddy (of Stanhope Hotel fame), upheld the Barbizon’s unique incorporation of Italian Renaissance, Gothic, and Moorish influences while incorporating state-of-the-art technology including pre-wiring the property - a rare infusion. This premier building features an elegant lobby with full-time doormen and access to a luxury concierge service. It is the only condominium where residents are automatically enrolled in the Bergdorf Goodman private shopping service. Barbizon 63’s Club Salon also offers access to a spacious library, dining room with a catering kitchen, a twenty-seat screening room and a state-of-the-art gym that includes a large indoor pool. This is a pet-friendly building.
Additional features of this building include: ON-SITE RESIDENT MANAGER.
