Bronx
The Bronx, the northernmost borough of New York City, is home to much more than Yankee Stadium.
Bronx real estate includes elegant single-family houses, but you can also find beautiful Art Deco apartment buildings and sun-splashed co-ops in the Bronx. The borough includes the world-famous Bronx Zoo, Van Cortlandt Park, and Pelham Bay Park – which is the largest park in New York City and is more than triple the size of Central Park. The area closest to Manhattan is the South Bronx. It is being revitalized and now contains converted lofts and artist’s spaces. The rest of the Bronx splits roughly into west and east, with the zoo and Bronx River Road on its eastern edge serving as the divide. Notable West Bronx neighborhoods include Riverdale, which features a cluster of turn-of-the-century mansions as well as high-rise doormen apartments; Kingsbridge, known for its brick houses and local shops, and the Grand Concourse, a wide boulevard lined with Art Deco apartment buildings. In the East Bronx there’s City Island, a little seaport enclave with waterfront condos, single-family houses, and dozens of lobster restaurants; Pelham Bay, a neighborhood of one- and two-family houses that borders the park, and Co-op City, a development with more than 15,000 apartments and townhouses.
