Hamptons for Less Than a Million

If you think the Hamptons means only $5-, $10- and $20-million homes, think again: The fact is, most properties sell these days at sub-million-dollar prices, says Jonathan Miller, chief executive and president of Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers in Manhattan.

 

"Over the past seven years, 69.3 percent of all the transactions on the East End, in the Hamptons and the North Fork sold for less than $1 million," says Miller, citing data researched by his company.

 

Kimberly Stengel of Town & Country Real Estate agrees. "The Hamptons might be known for its lavish estates, but some of us call it home on a year-round basis. There are plenty of options for the first-time vacation-home buyer and the year-round resident," she says.
