Dream Homes: Boerum Hill, Brooklyn $3.75 million

Published: 11/1/2012Source: New York Post

Built in 1859, this prewar — pre-Civil War — row house on Dean Street is a “mix” of Italianate and Greek Revival features, with the “original splendor” retained even while the home has been “fully updated for the 21st century.” The four stories are currently configured into a legal two-family residence — with a five-bedroom, 4 1/2-bathroom triplex above a one-bedroom, 1 1/2-bathroom garden-level duplex — though the house can, of course, “be easily converted” to a single-family home. The fact that almost everything — the wiring, plumbing, stairs, kitchens and bathrooms, as well as the original details down to the “ornate” moldings — was just restored in 2003 makes matters simpler.
