A designer home, originally owned by the Underwood Typewriters, family has been bought by — a designer.
Meris and Kenny Blumstein & The Blumstein Team at Corcoran Group sold the six-story Murray Hill townhouse that belonged to their friend designer, Liora Manne, for $5.373 million.

The house at 115 East 38th Street was bought by Arthur Krystophiak and Michel Botbol, himself a designer for Ralph Lauren.

It was previously owned by jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane and, at one point in its history, the Underwood Family — an antique Underwood typewriter was left for the new owners as a house warming gift from the sellers.

The house has five-plus bedrooms, a formal living room with a terrace overlooking the back yard.
There are formal and casual living rooms throughout the home, a roof top entertainment room with terrace, eat-in kitchen, dining room, two kitchenettes, an office, an elevator and, say the brokers, surprises at every turn!

Israel-born rug designer Manné — whose work can be seen in Radio City Music Hall, Brown University and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — has lived in the house with husband Charlie Peck for several years.
She said, “This is like a safe haven. To come back home to that is amazing.”
But the couple wants to downsize. “It just got to be too much,” Manné said.
