An artist's touch

Corcoran agent Dana Bird just closed on the $2,900,000 sale of what she describes "the quintessential Brooklyn Heights townhouse," which featured a second floor painter's studio. "The painting studio must have been an inspirational place to work with beautiful morning light, birds chirping and the occasional sound of children playing across the street," Bird said. The 1820s Federal period 6-bedroom townhouse came with tin ceilings, two fireplaces, wainscoting throughout, dining room, Manhattan views, a renovated kitchen and meticulously landscaped garden ripe with blossoming cherry trees and koi pond. With such an inspiring site, the owner adorned the home, at 72 Hicks Street, with artwork of local scenes. "My favorite was the colorful Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge that hung in the dining room," Bird said. "It always invoked a compliment from anyone that came through."
