South Jamesport
Everywhere you look in South Jamesport you see the Great Peconic. To borrow South Fork-speak, this beachy hamlet is 'south of the highway.' In this case, the 'highway' is Peconic Boulevard, the dividing line between South Jamesport and Jamesport.
The first thing you'll want to do in South Jamesport is to explore its narrow lanes, which lead down to the Peconic. This is quickly followed by musings on finding the perfect family cottage or beach house. Jamesport Beach's 3,000 feet along the bay add to the allure. The water here is shallow and crystal clear, perfect for children. There are also tennis and basketball courts and plenty of parking.
If you don't feel like cooking at the end of the day, shoot over to the Bayview Restaurant and Inn and start eating from its menu of absolutely delicious American and continental cuisine. You can do it sitting on the porch. The view, of course, is the Great Peconic.
