Vero Beach

The Indian River County seat, the City of Vero Beach offers 13.1 square miles of beautifully unspoiled beaches, open space and ocean vistas on the central east coast of Florida, 190 miles south of Jacksonville and 140 miles north of Miami. Vero Beach is Indian River's county's cultural and commercial center, and has a population of approximately 17,900.

In addition to its pristine beaches and waters for swimming, scuba diving, boating, fishing, and other water sports, Vero Beach's 12 parks offer countless opportunities for recreation and enjoying the outdoors. The area boasts four public golf courses (two designed by Tom Fazio) allowing for all levels of play, as well as tennis facilities and a city-run marina. Add Holman Stadium, the 6,500 seat Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a host of museums, theaters, restaurants, night spots, and shopping areas, and you have the makings for an incomparable place to call home as residents can swim, golf and play all year long free from urban sprawl and congestion. Notably, Vero Beach's climate is moderated by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, keeping the average temperature a balmy 73 degrees.

Cultural activities are also plentiful, ranging from live performances at either of Vero's two theaters, a glimpse into the area's past at the Historical Society, the Heritage Center/Citrus Museum or the McLarty Treasure Museum, and art exhibitions of international and national importance at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
