Future plans call for the continued development of the downtown waterfront district. Today, an increasing number of year-round residents mix with the seasonal visitors to enjoy the fashionable lounges, cozy pubs, eclectic boutiques and fine restaurants that stretch from downtown's CityPlace to Clematis Street. Art and antiques collectors from around the globe come to West Palm Beach in search of one-of-a-kind pieces available at the dozens of stores lining 'Antiques Row' on West Palm's Dixie Highway.

For theater and the performing arts, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is the area's premier location which attracts locals and residents from the surrounding towns. The same can be said for The Norton Museum of Art which houses a world-renowned collection of European, American, Chinese and contemporary art, along with rotating exhibitions. Myriad art, antique, jewelry and auto take place year-round at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, just across the street from shop-filled CityPlace.

West Palm Beach also offers activities at the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park, the South Florida Science Museum or the nearby world-class beaches and fishing. Residents are gravitating towards the district in West Palm known as 'SoSo' or South of Southern Boulevard, where many newly constructed residences just minutes from the water meld with the older historic properties that give the area its unique charm.
