Winter Springs is a wonderful mix of the best of Central Florida — beautiful former agricultural land studded with lakes and ancient oak trees, coupled with a world of great restaurants, retail, and arts nearby. Bordered on the north by Lake Jessup, the community retains a lot of wildness in its parks and trails, and attracts both Orlandoans and relocating northerners. Thanks to some of the best highway infrastructure in Central Florida, Winter Springs is one of those far-out suburbs that’s actually rather convenient to the action. Weekday commutes into the eastern side of Orlando are breezy, as are trips to the theme parks, to the Atlantic beaches, and to Orlando’s international airport or the regional airport in Sanford. The University of Central Florida is close, but the only animal houses you’re likely to encounter are equestrian barns.

Living in Central Florida

Central Florida runs on tourism, but the draw of this place was felt long before a mouse ever got into the act.
