Coral Gables Commerce & Culture
Coral Gables’ main commercial district is known as Miracle Mile. It’s an easy walk to a vast assortment of South Florida’s legendary boutiques and restaurants, and people come from all over to do a lot of both on the boulevard. More than 120 restaurants are downtown, from Spanish cafés to world-renowned fine dining. Shopping downtown offers boutique after boutique of high-fashion goods for body and home, plus art galleries that are a vital part of the Miami scene. At nearby Merrick Park, luxury department stores anchor an architecturally stunning outdoor shopping center with more than a hundred shops and restaurants. Those interested in the architectural history of the town can learn more at the Coral Gables Museum, which features exhibits on design and planning and offers tours (by bike and canoe!) of the surrounding neighborhoods. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden hosts notable art exhibits along with an amazing collection of tropical plants. Two theaters host productions year-round with a mix of nationally known actors and some serious local talent.
