Lido Key is the quiet little sibling of Sarasota’s barrier islands, located just north of Siesta Key. Living here means sunbathing at Lido Beach (with far fewer tourists than Siesta Beach) and proximity to St. Armands Circle, a popular shopping and restaurant district. Lido Shores, on the north end of the island, is known for its iconic houses built by architects from the Sarasota School of Architecture. Developed in 1950 by Philip Hiss to showcase the Sarasota Modern style, Lido Shores still has a number of these mid-century masterpieces standing, most notably The Umbrella House, designed by Paul Rudolph. On the south end of the island, you’ll find luxury high-rises, including the Ritz-Carlton Beach Residences, which includes access to all the Ritz-Carlton’s many amenities. Lido Key is connected to Sarasota proper by the Ringling Bridge, which brings you directly into downtown Sarasota.
