    For artists, hipsters, and those who love them, Santurce has emerged as the capital of cool in San Juan. Santurce began its renaissance in the early 2000s, when artists and restaurateurs began to flock to the area. Santurce es Ley (Santurce is Law) and Los Muros Hablan (The Walls Speak) are two annual art festivals that have transformed the look of the barrio, drawing international street artists to paint murals everywhere, turning the neighborhood into a walkable museum. For dining, there’s Lote 23, an open-air food court with food trucks serving mofongo, pizza, arepas, cocktails, and burgers, or stop by one of Santurce’s award-winning restaurants serving the latest food trends. The neighborhood’s heart is La Placita de Santurce, a century-old market square. By day, it’s a fruit-and-vegetable market and at night, it becomes a neighborhood dance party with live music and a mix of nighttime-only restaurants, bars, and food stalls.
