Get to know Lahaina

This small seaside town has captured the hearts of many. You could easily spend an entire day perusing the art galleries and boutiques that line Lahaina’s iconic Front Street. But you would be remiss if you didn’t grab a free brochure and take a self-guided tour through Old Lahaina’s riveting history. Discover historic landmarks from the days when Lahaina was the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the playground for its royalty. Come face-to-face with the largest banyan tree in the United States – at more than 150-years-old, it stands at 60-feet tall and its roots occupy an entire city block. Sunsets are best enjoyed over a meal, preferably at one of Front Street’s oceanfront restaurants. During Hawaii’s whale watching season, the harbor will be your go-to spot. There, you can catch sight of the majestic and massive North Pacific humpback whales. When Halloween rolls around, get dressed up and get ready for a lively block party.

Living on Maui

From rural charm to glamorous resort living, Maui has a way of entrancing you. That’s why there’s a popular motto by its residents. It goes, “Maui No Ka Oi.” Translated, it simply means: Maui is the best. As you travel between green valleys and rolling pastures, it’s hard not to fall head over heels for the island’s lush beauty. Towering above the island is Haleakala. The stunning drive lifts you above puffed clouds and makes for a truly special experience to either greet the day at sunrise or end the day with a sunset. Your time on Maui can be as varied as each of its towns. On one day, you could find yourself on a botanical estate tasting wine, and the next you could be wandering through the small town of Paia. If you want to hit the road, the well-known road to Hana would be something to cross off your bucket list.
