About Nicole

Nicole Flender is a native New Yorker who loves the vibrancy, diversity and pulse of the city. Having grown up on the Upper West Side, she moved to Murray Hill and now lives in the ever-changing neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen. She went to high school in New York at LaGuardia - yes the Fame school - then went on to graduate cum laude from Yale. She earned her Masters degree in French literature from NYU, while living in Paris teaching English as a second language. Her experience as a professional dancer gives her the drive, dedication and discipline to work with clients to find the apartment that fits their exact needs. As a former teacher, she is patient and detail-oriented and loves working with people. She realizes that finding the right apartment is a process and she is there to guide you smoothly and knowledgeably. Nicole is a hard worker and innovative thinker who doesn’t stop coming up with ideas until her clients are satisfied.

Nicole danced at Lincoln Center with the New York City Ballet as a child. She went on to perform in numerous Broadway musicals including A Chorus Line, Fiddler on the Roof, Gypsy, Hello Dolly and My One and Only among others. She seized the opportunity to educate others about “show biz” by writing behind the scenes stories for regional newspapers, while on tour, including The Boston Herald, The Ottowa Citizen and The Daily Oklahoman. Her book, Cool Careers for People who Love Movement, can be found on Amazon.com.

Elected as an officer of Actors’ Equity Association, Nicole represents over 50,000 stage actors across the country. As such, she has honed her negotiating and deal-making skills. She also serves as a voter for Broadway’s Tony Awards. Nicole is proud of her two children. Her daughter is an actress living in Paris and her son is an Oscar-nominated actor for Call Me By Your Name.

Nicole is bilingual in English and French. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys traveling, reading and (still!) taking ballet class.

Recommendations
When presented with a rather difficult assignment of the presentation and sale of an estate apartment, Nicole Flender, did an outstanding job, resulting in a sale within a few months of the listing. Her care and attention to detail was first rate. I would recommend her without qualification.
— Richard M. Ticktin, Seller
Nicole explained the apartment purchase process with encouragement and without jargon or pretense. Her skilled listening and light but confident touch put me in the driver's seat. Without Nicole, I wouldn't have had the confidence to buy a fixer-upper and I won the bid thanks to her subtle bargaining techniques. I would definitely recommend Nicole to all buyers.
— Diana Hall, Buyer
As buyers new to the New York co-op market, we were ably guided through the process by Nicole, who worked tirelessly to make sure we landed our dream apartment, made herself available for last minute showings, negotiated strategically on our behalves and sagely advised us prior to our board interview. She was on top of hundreds of details and diligent in follow-through. A pleasure to work with.
— A. Lippman, Buyer
Nicole’s work in finding and securing my Brooklyn Heights apartment was exhaustive, professional and supportive. She kept all of the requirements and documentation in check at every turn. She is super organized, and made certain the whole process was on track, especially when I found it daunting. An excellent negotiator, and best of all, friendly and levelheaded, Nicole “won” me my apartment.
— Sasha Emerson, Rental Client
I was looking for a short-term rental when I was working for a three-month period in New York. Nicole quickly found me the perfect apartment- furnished, clean, and in a great location. Nicole made what I thought might be a difficult process painless and efficient. She was a great liaison between the apartment owner and myself. I can’t say enough about Nicole's expertise and highly recommend her.
