Get to know Battery Park City

Battery Park City, sitting between West Street and the Hudson River at the tip of Manhattan, was intended to be a model residential community just a short distance from the Financial District. Ask the area’s residents, and almost all would agree it was a success. Construction began in 1980; today, 30 residential buildings are separated by landscaped squares and paths, while a riverside promenade runs along the neighborhood’s western edge. It has a decidedly different pace and feel from other parts of Manhattan that is made even more appealing with sunset views over the Hudson and cool breezes off the water.
