Get to know Hudson Yards

Farther west than most would previously think to go, massive redevelopment stimulated the construction of many residential and commercial properties. Where once there was nothing, Hudson Yards has sprung. Well, not strictly nothing, but how often would the average person need to travel several avenues to the Javits Center or the rail yard? From high-rises off the western shore of Manhattan, one can gaze across the entire city (and even some of New Jersey). This literally elevated perspective attracts residences, corporate headquarters, and hotels to plant a flag in the neighborhood. The 34th Street-Hudson Yards subway station entirely disrupts the notion that this city section is isolated. 7 Train service can link you to a multitude of lines at Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and Grand Central — or it can take you all the way into Queens.

Hudson Yards Commerce & Culture

Even though the subway can connect you to anywhere in the city, it is hard to deny that Hudson Yards can at least feel like a great distance removed. Thankfully, the neighborhood contains everything you could want. Shopping is well-covered, with dozens of luxury stores available for perusal. Apparel, jewelry, beauty: it’s all there, and then some, under the banners of familiar, worldwide brands. Dining in Hudson Yards means a collection of restaurants from some of the biggest names in the industry. With a sprawling area, ample room exists to explore and relax in some green space. If you’d like to survey other neighborhoods but don’t want to head underground, the northern entrance to the High Line is at the southern edge of Hudson Yards. The elevated park can take you down through Chelsea and all the way into the Meatpacking District.
