While it is only three blocks long, running between Fifth and Eighth avenues, Central Park South deserves to be considered a neighborhood of its own. That’s even more impressive when you consider that the north side of the street is Central Park. (In defining the neighborhood’s limits, we are also including the two blocks to the park’s south, down to 57th Street.) In that short span, you’ll find a number of Manhattan’s most iconic apartment buildings, as well as its leading hotels — both iconic properties and new arrivals. In recent years, rising among the older towers have been a number of the pencil-thin super-tall skyscrapers by leading firms and starchitects, like Robert A.M. Stern, that are transforming the skyline of Manhattan.
