Upper West Side

Upper West Side

Living in the Upper West Side

Tucked between the lush green of Riverside Park and Central Park, the Upper West Side is a pristine neighborhood with a surprisingly leisurely pace of life. Its tree-lined streets, well-kept townhouses and village-like charm make it one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the city – not to mention the breathtaking Hudson River views. A vibrant performing arts community also helps add to its prestige. Home to Lincoln Center and a wealth of museums, the Upper West Side has long been a hotspot for actors, artists and writers. There’s a bohemian, intellectual vibe that permeates the independent bookstores and airy bistros lining the sidewalks. Although the area can feel worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of downtown, residents here are well-connected. The 1, 2 and 3 subway lines stop on Broadway’s main strip, and the A, B, C and D trains all connect to Central Park West.

One of Emery Roth's Most Elegant Central Park West Buildings

The Ardsley was designed by legendary architect Emory Roth in 1931 and is considered one of Central Park West’s most remarkable art-deco buildings. Twenty-two stories tall, this full-service established cooperative features a classic light brick façade with contrasting horizontal strips of black brick, inspired by the ancient Maya. The base of the building has a zigzag cast stone frieze and there are recessed floors on the upper levels of the building and cantilevered balconies. Residences in this building are known for their graceful spacious layouts, beamed ceilings, and notable closet space. A full-time doorman and concierge welcome you into the building’s magnificent marble lobby. Building amenities include a lending library, new windowed fitness center, play room, and pets are allowed upon approval. Converted into a co-operative in 1971, the Ardsley is comprised of 183 apartments and recently restored itself to its original splendor.

Additional features of this building include: Professional Units, Building website, Storage room, Bike room, Laundry room.
