Brazilian Supermodel Leaves Chelsea for Clinton Hill

Is there no stopping the BroBos' steady takeover of the city? The borough has just claimed that most quintessential of Manhattan couples, a Brazilian supermodel and her Italian artist beau.

 

According to city records, Yamila Díaz-Rahi just sold her two-bedroom penthouse co-op at 133 West 28th Street to Andrew Minikow. He paid $1.58 million for the 1,300-square-foot skylit spread, perhaps a present for being hired in November as the chief operating officer at Pioneer Power Solutions, a Fort Lee-based transformer company.

 

Back in the middle of March, Ms. Díaz-Rahi and Giuliano Guarneri hopped a C-Train to the brownstone belt, where they purchased 364 Washington Avenue, a former stop on the Underground Railroad, according to the listing, for $1.98 million. The 3,223-square-foot home belonged to a consummately Brooklyn duo, author Sheri Holman and Sean Redmond, a web developer at the Guggenheim. Artsy!

 

The only thing harder than choosing which of Ms. Díaz-Rahi's eights Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition appearances is the best is deciding which of these homes is nicer.

 

The loft features an unbelievable 800-square-foot roof deck, like stepping into a private corner of the Amazon only a winding staircase away from the living room. There is even a huge pergola with a bed for lounging. Downstairs, French doors connect every room. "The flow was just wonderful, because of the French doors," Douglas Elliman's Margeruite Martin told The Observer. "It wasn't sealed off at all, it just enhanced that loft feel." The bathroom was done up in a Morocan theme, with tiled nooks for baubles and shampoo in the walls, and Mr. Guarneri's Eastern-inflected art hangs throughout, alongside those adorable Tibetan prayer flags.

 

The five-bedroom, five-bath townhouse is actually the rare freestanding home in brownstone Brooklyn, a mint-green confection with a front porch and white detailing half-a-block from Underwood Park. "There are three wood burning fireplaces, original pocket doors, a gigantic eat-in-kitchen leading to the garden, a formal dining room, windows on all sides, since it is a stand alone house, and updated electric and plumbing (approximately 90%)," Merele Williams-Adkins writes in her Corcoran listing.

 

Given that the home has twice as much room for hanging out and a backyard, which beats even the nicest roof deck, looks like Brooklyn carries the day yet again.
