Fox Film Honcho Thomas Rothman Buys in Alden

First Geraldo Rivera buys at 45 East 89th Street, and now the co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, Thomas Rothman, has purchased a Manhattan home. Mr. Rothman and wife, Jessica Harper Rothman, have bought a giant penthouse in The Alden on Central Park West for $3.8 million, slightly more than the $3.4 million that Mr. Rivera paid for his home. While the honcho can’t rival Mr. Rivera’s insatiable preening (nor lugubrious moustache), he does host his own TV show, Fox Legacy, which provides background and behind-the-scenes looks at films aired on the Fox movie channel.

Mr. Rothman can run though his monologues unmolested in the privacy of the new apartment, and after a hard day’s work in the studio he can relax out on the mansion-in-the-air 13,000 square feet of terrace space. He definitely beats Mr. Rivera on the outdoor space metric, whose deck totals just 69.7 square feet.

Corcoran agent Noble Black, who worked on the deal with Leighton Candler, said the apartment’s giant solarium was particularly attractive to the Rothmans, who are doubtless used to soaking in the California rays year-round. “It was very quiet up there,” Mr. Black also notes, which also appealed to the couple, whose secluded Los Angles home appears, according to Google Maps, to have a pool and a private tennis court.

The Rothmans purchased their home from Frederic and Ann Marsh, a couple who list 459 Columbus Avenue as their current address on the deed.
