Forest Hills is often grouped together with its neighbor Oak Hill, both just a short distance south of downtown Nashville. The names of the two towns are a clue to their geography, with stately houses surrounded by lush, heavily wooded hills. Both Forest Hills and Oak Hill are zoned to be exclusively residential, and the area serves as a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the urban core. However, Forest Hills is located so close to central Nashville, Belle Meade, and Green Hills that living here ends up being the best of both worlds: serenity at home and convenience just a short drive away. This is a suburb of baronial estates—most properties sit on at least one acre and a mix of contemporary Colonial, Georgian, and modern mansions dot the landscape, though you’ll occasionally find a few older ranch houses as well.
