The people will be more attractive, listen to better music, and have a better knowledge of both up-and-coming visual artists and Portuguese wines. River North is the place to be young and alive, and probably pretty tired because there is always something going on there. The artsy side of Chicago blossomed in the abandoned factories along the river (to the west and south) and the dining scene along the Miracle Mile (the eastern border) grew more interesting and eclectic as it pushed into River North. This is a place for the childless young professional, and their culture fuels the cafes, the funky boutiques, and some of the city’s best nightclubs. It’s a pedestrian-friendly area, and residents are always out on the streets walking to and from work and play.
